The How to Do Page

1st position feet make V with heels together and arms in encircled low with fingertips an inch apart

2nd position feet turned out and apart at shoulders length and arms open

3rd position feet make a lowercase Y with the left foot at the arch of the right foot; the right arm is curved above head and the left arm is curved down

4th position left foot, still turned out, steps forward from 3rd position and the left arm moves out to the side

5th position left foot moves back to touch the right toe, still turned out, and arms encircle above head

Arabesque turn to the left with body still facing front and point right foot out to the side; arms are in a diagonal; or vice versa

Balance start in fifth position, then the right foot goes out to the side and the weight is transferred to it, then bring the left foot behind the right and and transfer the weight to the ball of the left foot while rising up on it, then put your weight back on the right foot flat on the floor

Ball Change rock back on the ball of either foot and step forward with the opposite foot

Barrel Roll (going to the right) Falap with the right foot, put the right heel down, touch the left tow behind you and start to turn, lift and put down the right heel, falap with the right foot while continuing to turn, step with the left foot, then the right foot, you should now be facing forward; arms are always in a diagonal down to the right

Battement leg is raised from the hip into the air and brought down again, keeping both knees straight and the rest of the body remains still

Body Roll put one foot behind you and roll your body back starting with the head and working your way down

Box Step step forward with the right foot, step across the right with the left foot, step back with the right foot, step to the side with the left foot

Brush sweep the toe of either foot back

Buffalo Step (going to the right) step to side with the right foot, shuffle with the left foot, and hop behind the right on the left foot, bringing the right foot up to start again

Changement start with feet in 5th position, then jump, change feet and land with feet opposite in 5th

Charleston step forward with the right foot, kick with the left, step back with the left foot and touch the right toe behind you

Chasse like a gallop with the body turned to the side

Cramp Roll jump up and land right toe, left toe, right heel, left heel, very fast

Dig touch of the right toe next to the left foot, or vice versa

Echappe start in 5th position, jump out into 2nd position releve, then jump back to 5th position with the opposite foot in front

Falap only the toe and ball of the foot touches the ground; foot goes brushes out then down quickly

Falap Ball Change do a falap then pick up that same foot and do a ball change

Falap Heel Dig Heel with either foot; (we'll use the right as an example) falap with the right foot, put the right heel down, dig with the left foot, then lift and put right heel down again

Falap Heel Toe Heel the same as Falap Heel Dig Heel, but instead of digging, step behind with the left toe

Falap Hop Brush Step Step Step falap with the right foot, hop on the left foot, brush around to back in a circular motion with the right foot, step with the right foot, then there is a slight pause, then step with the left foot, step with the right foot

Falap Step Step Scuff Cramp Roll falap with the right foot to the right side, step together with left foot, step to the right with the right foot, scuff with the left foot in front of you while jumping and doing a full turn, when you land you should do a cramp roll

Fondu pique with a plie

Fouette Turn the leg is brushed forward, then you turn the body around, so that the body turns 180 degrees away from the leg, which remains where it was

Grand plie bend the knees; knees should be over toes and nothing should be sticking out, you should be completely straight; goes all the way to the ground

Grapevine step to the right, cross in front with the left, step to the right, cross behind with the left, repeat

Hip Walk step and roll hip out

Hitch Kick bring up left knee, jump and kick with the right

Jazz Run long strides, dragging the foot behind, and exagerated arms

Lay Out kick foot forward and lean back (try to look behind you)

Leap jumping from one foot to the other in long strides

Pas de Bourree step on the left foot, then releve on the right foot to the side, then move the left foot to the front of the right and put your weight on both feet in a pli?

Pas de Chat Starting from plie, leap off the left leg, and raise the right leg to point just below the left knee. In midair, raise the left leg to point just below the right knee, so your legs form a diamond shape in the air. Land on the right leg with the left leg still pointed below the knee; then bring it down, landing in another pli?.

Pique bring pointed foot behind you to you ankle

Pirouette a complete turn on one leg

Pivot step forward with the right, turn to the left, or vice versa

Plie bend the knees; knees should be over toes and nothing should be sticking out, you should be completely straight

Releve rise up on your toes

Ride Out step heavily to your right, step behind you with your left while turning to face the left, step together with the right, repeat to the left

Riff forward motion, pushing the toe then the heel through

Ront de Jambe starting in first position to tendu forward, makes a half circle to tendu in back, and then returns to first

Scissor Kick jump up and kick one leg then the other before landing

Scuff forward motion, pushing the heel through

Shuffle just using the toe, bending leg at the knee, push toe out then bring back in

Shuffle Hop Step do a shuffle with the right, hop on the left, then bring right foot down, or vice versa

Stamp stomping with change of weight

Step Step Step Dig step to the right, step together, step to the right, dig left foot; arms travel in circular motion, or vice versa

Stomp stomping with no change of weight

Suetnue Turn cross right foot over left and turn to the left

Susu Turn up on releve, turning in a circle

Tendu pointing the foot

Three Step Turnstep out with right (arms out), bring left foot around to face back (arms in), bring right foot around to face front (arms out), or vice versa

Tour Jete a jump in which you leap in the air, starting with a battement, but in midair, you turn around 180 degrees and doing a scissor kick so you land on the other foot facing back the way you came.
